Why create a branding board?

A branding board is a visual image of your business. It’s a unique representation of your business brand and how people can easily identify youYou can use your branding board when you’re looking for inspiration for new ideas for your brand, logo, colours and fonts.

I have written a short description below showing you how to create a branding board using Canva. I was inspired by a post I came across in one of the Facebook groups I’m a member of, and after doing some colour palette searches on Pinterest, I thought it would be a good idea to share this.

A branding board will save you a lot of time especially when you’re indecisive about which colours or fonts to use. When you’re struggling to remember which hex code you used the last time, you can quickly refer back to it and be on your merry way. When I started designing my website and creating templates, I was constantly going back and forth trying to remember which fonts and colours I used. I would write them down, but that didn’t seem to work very well.  I’m not going to lie, I hated the process because it took up a lot of my time. Creating my own branding board allowed me to easily create designs in a short space of time.

It helps you stay consistent with your business branding, for instance when you’re sharing content on social media, creating templates, flyers and your products. You can also share it with your web designer or logo designer so they know which colours and fonts to use to match your brand.

So, to get started….

You will needCanva account. If you don’t already have one, you can sign up with Canva for free.

A selection of your hex colour codes. You can get these from Colour Palette FX . All you have to do is to insert an image that you like and you’ll get a variation of colours which you can select from. Take note of your hex colour codes as you’ll be inserting them into your branding board that you’ll be creating with Canva.

To get images for inspiration you can use Google images or Pinterest (my personal favourite).

Grasshopper.com has a colour quiz that can help you choose a colour for your business brand. I tried the quiz myself and my colour was blue! Based on my results, blue is a trusting and secure colour, conjuring up the feeling of calm and even spirituality. It’s often used in corporate designs and is well-known as a favourite colour. You may be familiar with some companies using blue for their branding such as Facebook, Skype, WordPress, and Ford. Blue is loyal, dependable, and it’s a great colour to use if you want your customers to trust you. Blue is also appealing to shoppers on a budget. It’s also the most widely-used colour for company logos. Remember that blue does of course come in different shades which your customers can perceive differently! You can try out the quiz here bit.ly/Gclqz8yv
